Laser Tattoo Removal Aftercare & Healing Stages
What happens hour-by-hour and week-by-week after a session, and the aftercare that protects your result.
Aftercare is where your results are won or lost. The laser does its job in minutes; the healing that follows over the next weeks is what protects your skin and keeps the fade on track.
Healing, stage by stage
- First few hours: the area “frosts” white, then may look red, swollen, and slightly raised. Cool it and keep it covered.
- Days 1–3: mild swelling and tenderness; small blisters or pinpoint scabs can form. Keep it clean and moisturized.
- Week 1–2: scabs and blisters heal and flake off on their own. Do not pick them.
- Weeks 2–8: the visible fading happens as your body clears the ink — then you’re ready for the next session.
The aftercare that matters
- Leave scabs and blisters alone — picking is the top cause of scarring.
- Keep it clean — gentle wash, pat dry, apply what your clinic recommends.
- Moisturize to prevent excessive dryness and cracking.
- Avoid the sun — cover the area or use SPF; sun on healing skin risks discoloration.
- Skip soaking — no pools, hot tubs, or long baths until healed.
- No shaving or scrubbing over the treated area while it heals.
Why it’s worth the care
